Hobbies & Interests

Life outside of work. When I'm not working with data, you'll usually find me playing guitar, following Formula 1, or out walking somewhere in the hills of Kerry.

Music

Music has always been a huge part of home life. When I'm back in Kerry, my brother and I spend hours recording covers of our favourite songs and writing a few of our own. There is no better creative outlet to relax and forget about the rest of the world around you.

The 2022 Monaco Grand Prix from the grandstand

Formula 1

Formula 1 is where my interest in data and sport meet. It's arguably the most data-driven sport in the world, with races often decided by the strategy team's split-second modelling. Watching the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix in person with my Dad is to this day one of my favourite memories of all time.

A poker night at the table

Poker

Whenever my cousins & I get together, the poker set invariably comes out. Poker is such a fantastic game because it is all about calculated risk and making informed decisions based on limited information. The satisfaction that comes with winning a huge pot after correctly reading the table is difficult to emulate anywhere else.

Nature

Growing up surrounded by the hills of Kerry gave me a lasting appreciation for the outdoors, moving to Dublin certainly reinforced it. Whenever I'm home, I make time for a long walk in the countryside to switch off and take in the view.
